The Opportunity:

As an SEN Class Teacher Primary, you will play a vital role in supporting students with autism and complex needs. This position offers the chance to make a real difference through individualized teaching, collaboration with support staff, and the implementation of effective strategies for student growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, differentiated teaching to students with autism and complex needs
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to student requirements
  • Liaise with external agencies and support staff to ensure holistic student support
  • Manage and lead a team of support staff effectively
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting teaching strategies as needed
  • Participate in school-wide planning and professional development initiatives
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and interventions
  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in a special needs setting, specifically with students on the autism spectrum
  • Relevant training in PECS and TEACCH methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to create and implement individualized learning plans
  • Experience in managing and leading support staff
  • Commitment to raising student achievement and promoting inclusive education

Preferred

  • Experience with communication disorders and alternative communication systems
  • Familiarity with special educational needs legislation and policy
  • Experience in working with students with additional medical needs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
