Located in the Derbyshire countryside, the school caters for young people with a range of special educational needs, including Autism and Speech and Language Disorders. The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate SEN Teacher to join our dedicated team on the Lower Site. This role involves teaching a range of subjects to Key Stage 3 and Year 10 students, with opportunities for Key Stage 2 practitioners to apply. The school offers a flexible and innovative curriculum, and you will be supported with high-quality training and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching across a range of subjects, including English, Maths, Science, and more.
  • Work collaboratively with Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists to support students’ learning and development.
  • Implement research-informed teaching and learning strategies that meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Support students in developing academic and life skills through a holistic and therapeutic approach.
  • Participate in a comprehensive CPD programme to enhance teaching practice and share best practices with colleagues.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents and carers.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of a flexible and inclusive curriculum.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and success.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in special education or mainstream teaching.
  • Ability to teach across the Key Stage 3 curriculum.
  • Commitment to quality first teaching and student-centered learning.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and supportive team environment.

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with Autism and Speech and Language Disorders.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language or other specialist areas.
  • Previous experience in a special school or SEND setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with therapists and support staff.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary on the main scale M1-UPS3 with an additional SEN point.
  • 0.8 FTE (4 days per week) with a start date after the Easter holidays in April 2026.
