The Opportunity:

As an SEN Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex communication needs, autism, and associated learning and emotional needs. You will help shape engaging, individualised learning experiences that promote academic, social, and emotional growth, while working as part of a dedicated, multi-professional team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach and inspire individual students or small groups, following curriculum and educational frameworks.
  • Monitor, record and celebrate student progress to ensure each learner moves forward at the right pace.
  • Develop and review Individual Education Plans, Behaviour Plans, and personalised learning programmes.
  • Create stimulating, engaging learning environments that foster curiosity and confidence.
  • Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants, Tutors, and care staff to deliver consistent support.
  • Manage challenging behaviour with empathy and a focus on developing self-regulation.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, care teams, and families to ensure a joined-up approach.
  • Stay up-to-date with educational best practices and contribute to ongoing school improvement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A Degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Commitment to inclusive, student-centred education
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a multi-professional team
  • Experience in working with students with complex communication needs, autism, and associated learning and emotional needs

Preferred

  • Experience with developing and implementing Individual Education Plans
  • Experience with thematic teaching approaches
  • Proactive approach to personal development and reflective practice
