Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective teaching to students with autism and associated complex needs at KS4-5.
  • Support students in developing life skills and preparing for future pathways through vocational and accredited learning.
  • Collaborate with therapists, support staff, and other professionals to create individualized learning plans.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies that cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance teaching practice.
  • Contribute to the broader curriculum by offering vocational subjects and supporting the school’s educational vision.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student confidence and self-esteem.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant teaching experience, ideally in SEN settings.
  • Experience working with students who have autism, ADHD, or associated complex needs.
  • Strong knowledge of KS4-5 curriculum and vocational learning approaches.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to student-centered learning and individualized support.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching vocational subjects such as food, animal care, horticulture, or mechanics.
  • Familiarity with the Thrive Approach or other therapeutic frameworks.
  • Experience with accredited qualifications and outcomes.
  • Previous leadership or mentoring experience within education.
