The Opportunity:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll support students with autism and other learning differences in a dynamic and inclusive school setting. Your role is essential in helping students develop independence, confidence, and life skills, while contributing to a team that values growth, innovation, and student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support individual pupils or small groups under the direction of teaching staff
  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of learning activities and resources
  • Help create a classroom environment that is inclusive, engaging and safe
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation in line with the school’s values
  • Provide pastoral care and support the social and emotional wellbeing of pupils
  • Support with personal care needs where required (training provided)
  • Accompany pupils on off-site trips, outdoor learning activities, and community visits
  • Contribute to observation and reporting systems to track pupil progress

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience working in a school, care, or support environment
  • A positive, proactive attitude and a genuine interest in SEN education
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviour
  • Willingness to work flexibly, both indoors and outdoors
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with autism or other learning differences
  • Experience with 1:1 or small group support
  • Knowledge of inclusive education practices
  • Experience with EHCP goals and support planning
