Summary:

A school dedicated to supporting students aged 11–16 with complex learning needs, including SEMH, autism, and speech, language and communication difficulties. It provides a nurturing, therapeutic environment where students are supported to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

The Opportunity:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support students with SEMH, ASD and anxiety-related needs in a safe and caring environment. You will assist with learning activities, manage behaviour positively, and provide resources and classroom support under teacher guidance. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a difference in young lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEMH, ASD and anxiety-related needs
  • Assist with learning activities and adapt them to meet individual needs
  • Help manage behaviour positively and individually
  • Provide resources and classroom support under teacher guidance
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff
  • Promote student wellbeing and safety at all times
  • Contribute to the development of individual learning plans
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND
  • Level 2 or equivalent in Maths and English
  • A caring, patient and resilient approach
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Preferred

  • Experience with SEMH or autism support
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies
  • Experience with behaviour management techniques
  • Previous experience in a specialist setting
