The Opportunity:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support students with SEMH, ASD, and anxiety-related needs in a safe and caring setting. This role is essential in helping students reach their full potential through personalized learning and positive behavior management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with SEMH, ASD, and anxiety-related needs
- Assist with learning activities and adapt them to meet individual needs
- Help manage behavior positively and individually
- Provide resources and classroom support under teacher guidance
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to ensure a consistent and supportive environment
- Promote student wellbeing and emotional development
- Contribute to the creation of individual learning plans
- Support students in developing independence and life skills
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND
- Level 2 or equivalent in Maths and English
- A caring, patient, and resilient approach
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Preferred
- Experience with SEMH or autism support
- Previous teaching or support assistant experience
- Knowledge of therapeutic approaches
- Experience in behaviour management strategies
- Familiarity with assistive technologies
