The Opportunity:

As an SEN Tutor, you will provide one-to-one and small group tuition to students with special educational needs, helping them build confidence, self-esteem, and academic ability. This is a great opportunity for experienced tutors who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with SEN or ASC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and tailored lessons to students with special educational needs and ASC.
  • Create bespoke learning plans that meet individual student needs and goals.
  • Work closely with parents, guardians, and schools to ensure consistent support for students.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment, adhering to safeguarding policies.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and the school to update them on student progress.
  • Attend training sessions and follow the school's Bright Heart Approach to teaching and learning.
  • Ensure all lessons are well-structured, interactive, and aligned with curriculum requirements.
  • Support students in developing essential life skills and confidence in their abilities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • At least 12 months of relevant tutoring or teaching experience in the UK.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Strong subject knowledge in the subject(s) you are applying to tutor.
  • A university qualification or currently studying towards one, along with A-levels.
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN) and ASC.
  • A current Enhanced DBS certificate (with a check of the children’s barred list).
  • Two professional references and a parent reference.

Preferred

  • Experience with the National Tutoring Programme (NTP) or similar initiatives.
  • Flexibility and good availability for in-person tutoring in Kent.
  • Experience in creating individual learning plans (ILPs) tailored to student needs.
  • Experience with students who have social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Familiarity with the Bright Heart Approach or similar student-centred teaching methods.
