Join as an SEN Tutor in London and Surrey with experience in special educational needs.

The Opportunity:

As an SEN Tutor, you will make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with special educational needs. You will deliver tailored, one-to-one or small group tuition in London and Surrey, helping students build confidence, self-esteem, and academic progress through a compassionate and student-centred approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and personalized lessons tailored to the specific needs of students with SEN or ASC.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students and their families to enhance motivation and learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with parents, guardians, and schools to develop and implement individual learning plans (ILPs).
  • Provide consistent support and guidance to students, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Attend training sessions on the Bright Heart Approach and safeguarding practices.
  • Maintain detailed records of student progress and communicate regularly with stakeholders.
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles and abilities.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • At least 12 months of relevant tutoring and/or teaching experience in the UK.
  • Current Enhanced DBS certificate with a check of the children’s barred list.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Strong subject knowledge in the subject(s) you are applying to tutor.
  • University qualification or currently studying towards one, with A-levels.
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN) or autism spectrum condition (ASC).
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience with the National Tutoring Programme (NTP) or similar initiatives.
  • Flexibility and availability for in-person tutoring, including daytime hours.
  • Experience in creating bespoke lesson plans and adapting teaching strategies.
  • Previous experience working with students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
