The Opportunity:

As an SEN Tutor, you will provide one-to-one and small group tuition to students with special educational needs (SEN) and autism spectrum condition (ASC) in London and Surrey. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and bespoke lessons tailored to each student’s individual needs and learning style
  • Support students with special educational needs and autism spectrum condition (ASC) in a nurturing and structured environment
  • Work with students in their homes or at school through the National Tutoring Programme (NTP)
  • Maintain strong communication with parents and guardians and follow safeguarding protocols at all times
  • Keep detailed records of student progress and provide regular feedback
  • Attend ongoing training and development sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge
  • Adhere to the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies
  • Build trust and confidence in students through a compassionate and patient approach

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • At least 12 months of relevant tutoring or teaching experience in the UK
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Strong subject knowledge in your area of expertise
  • A university qualification or currently studying towards one, along with A-levels
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN) and autism spectrum condition (ASC)
  • A valid Enhanced DBS certificate (with a check of the children’s barred list)
  • Two relevant professional references and a parent reference

Preferred

  • Experience with the National Tutoring Programme (NTP)
  • Flexibility and availability for in-person tutoring, including during the daytime
  • Experience with creating individual learning plans (ILPs)
  • Knowledge of study techniques and transition support for students
  • Experience working with students who have social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs
