The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced SEN Tutor in Surrey to provide high-quality, individualised support to students with special educational needs. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students who require dedicated and empathetic tuition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition to students with special educational needs in Surrey
- Apply the Bright Heart Approach to build trust, self-esteem, and academic progress
- Develop and implement individual learning plans tailored to each student's needs
- Communicate regularly with parents, schools, and other professionals involved in the student's education
- Attend training and professional development sessions to enhance tutoring skills
- Ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all students
- Maintain accurate records and report progress to relevant stakeholders
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- At least 12 months of relevant tutoring and/or teaching experience in the UK
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Strong subject knowledge in the relevant tuition subject(s)
- University qualification or currently studying towards one and A-levels
- Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN)
- Valid Enhanced DBS certificate with a check of the children’s barred list
- Two relevant professional references and a parent reference
Preferred
- Experience with the Bright Heart Approach or similar student-centred tutoring methods
- Experience with students with severe SEN
- Experience in online or in-person tutoring
- Familiarity with educational software and tools for teaching and learning
- Experience with special educational needs (SEN) frameworks and policies
