The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced SEN Tutor in Surrey to provide high-quality, individualised support to students with special educational needs. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students who require dedicated and empathetic tuition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition to students with special educational needs in Surrey
  • Apply the Bright Heart Approach to build trust, self-esteem, and academic progress
  • Develop and implement individual learning plans tailored to each student's needs
  • Communicate regularly with parents, schools, and other professionals involved in the student's education
  • Attend training and professional development sessions to enhance tutoring skills
  • Ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all students
  • Maintain accurate records and report progress to relevant stakeholders

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • At least 12 months of relevant tutoring and/or teaching experience in the UK
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Strong subject knowledge in the relevant tuition subject(s)
  • University qualification or currently studying towards one and A-levels
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN)
  • Valid Enhanced DBS certificate with a check of the children’s barred list
  • Two relevant professional references and a parent reference

Preferred

  • Experience with the Bright Heart Approach or similar student-centred tutoring methods
  • Experience with students with severe SEN
  • Experience in online or in-person tutoring
  • Familiarity with educational software and tools for teaching and learning
  • Experience with special educational needs (SEN) frameworks and policies
