The Opportunity:
As SENCo (Head of Inclusion), you will lead and shape the school’s approach to supporting students with additional learning needs. This role is pivotal in ensuring all students receive a high-quality, inclusive education, both inside and outside the classroom. You will drive best practices and foster a consistent, supportive learning environment across the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the school’s inclusive learning strategy and ensure its implementation across all departments.
- Oversee the review and development of policies, practices, and teacher responsibilities to support students with additional learning needs.
- Champion inclusive teaching practices and ensure they are consistently applied across all systems and classrooms.
- Provide leadership and guidance to staff on SEND Code of Practice and inclusive education.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support students’ academic and personal development.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of inclusion initiatives and make recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure that all students have access to appropriate resources, support, and interventions.
- Promote a culture of inclusion and celebrate the achievements of students with additional learning needs.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and further qualifications in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice.
- Proven leadership and management experience in an educational setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and implement inclusive teaching strategies.
Preferred
- Experience in a senior leadership role within education.
- Experience with inclusive learning and teaching practices.
- Experience of working with students with a wide range of additional needs.
- Experience of managing a team and leading school-wide initiatives.
