The Opportunity:

As SENCo (Head of Inclusion), you will lead and shape the school’s approach to supporting students with additional learning needs. This role is pivotal in ensuring all students receive a high-quality, inclusive education, both inside and outside the classroom. You will drive best practices and foster a consistent, supportive learning environment across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the school’s inclusive learning strategy and ensure its implementation across all departments.
  • Oversee the review and development of policies, practices, and teacher responsibilities to support students with additional learning needs.
  • Champion inclusive teaching practices and ensure they are consistently applied across all systems and classrooms.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff on SEND Code of Practice and inclusive education.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support students’ academic and personal development.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of inclusion initiatives and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure that all students have access to appropriate resources, support, and interventions.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion and celebrate the achievements of students with additional learning needs.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and further qualifications in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Proven leadership and management experience in an educational setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement inclusive teaching strategies.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within education.
  • Experience with inclusive learning and teaching practices.
  • Experience of working with students with a wide range of additional needs.
  • Experience of managing a team and leading school-wide initiatives.
