The Opportunity:
As a SENCO, you will play a crucial role in supporting neurodiverse students and ensuring the effective implementation of the school’s SEND policy. This position involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of SEND services, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and leading a dedicated team to improve student outcomes. Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the school remains compliant with statutory responsibilities regarding students with SEND and EHC Plans.
- Coordinate and oversee the annual review process, ensuring timely completion and effective follow-up actions.
- Manage accommodations and exam access arrangements for all SEND students in line with JCQ guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all SEND students.
- Oversee the assessment and ongoing monitoring of SEND students’ needs.
- Develop and implement strategies to overcome barriers to learning and improve teaching effectiveness.
- Monitor the impact of SEND interventions and support continuous improvement.
- Act as an advocate for students with SEND and promote their inclusion and well-being.
- Lead and support the SEND team in delivering high-quality services to students.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in SEN or neurodiverse settings.
- In-depth knowledge of SEND policy and legal requirements.
- Experience in managing and leading a SEND team.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Preferred
- Experience in working with students with autism, dyslexia, ADHD, or sensory processing differences.
- Familiarity with EHC Plans and the annual review process.
- Experience in developing and implementing inclusive teaching strategies.
- Knowledge of JCQ guidelines and exam access arrangements.
- Experience in a specialist or independent school setting.
