As a SENCO, you will lead and shape the school's future by designing, implementing, and monitoring a robust inclusion and SEND strategy. This is a key role in ensuring every child, regardless of their starting point, has the opportunity to succeed and thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a whole-school inclusion and SEND strategy.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of support systems and interventions.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure a consistent approach to student needs.
- Provide professional guidance and training to staff on inclusive practices and SEND-related matters.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements and best practices in special educational needs provision.
- Work closely with senior leadership to integrate inclusion into the school's overall improvement plan.
- Support the emotional and academic well-being of students through a therapeutic approach to behaviour management.
- Promote a culture of high expectations and achievement across the school.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in special educational needs.
- Proven leadership experience in a SENCO or similar role.
- Strong understanding of inclusion strategies and SEND legislation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to a Christian school vision and values.
Preferred
- Experience with therapeutic approaches to behaviour management.
- Background in pastoral care or student well-being.
- Experience in a high-achieving academic environment.
- Familiarity with data-driven decision-making in education.
