The Opportunity:

As SENCO, you will lead the strategic development of SEND provision and play a key role in shaping inclusive education. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with SEND and to drive positive change within a progressive and supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic development of SEND provision, ensuring every child receives tailored support and opportunities to succeed.
  • Inspire, guide, and nurture a dedicated team, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
  • Play an active role in the senior leadership team, contributing to whole-school strategy and championing inclusive practice at every level.
  • Establish and lead our new Integrated Resource Provision, working closely with the local authority to expand and enhance our SEND offer and facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with SEND legislation and best practice, while promoting innovative approaches to inclusion.
  • Support the development of staff through training and CPD opportunities focused on SEND.
  • Work closely with parents, students, and external agencies to create a holistic support network for students with SEND.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision, using data to inform decision-making and improve outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Relevant SENDCO qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of current SEND legislation, policy, and best practice.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team, with experience in strategic planning and implementation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within education.
  • Experience with developing and managing an Integrated Resource Provision.
  • Experience in leading or supporting the development of inclusive curricula and teaching practices.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student welfare initiatives.
  • Experience with leadership training and professional development programs.
