The Opportunity:
A part time, temporary SENCO role is available to cover maternity leave from Easter 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced SENCOs or teachers to contribute to the improvement journey of a school with a strong focus on inclusive education and SEND provision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-level managerial and operational leadership for the school’s SENCO functions.
- Develop and implement effective SEND strategies and support systems.
- Collaborate with the Leadership Team to ensure inclusive practices across the school.
- Deliver high-quality teaching and learning to students within the SEND framework.
- Support staff in developing their understanding and implementation of SENCO best practices.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision and make recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and statutory requirements.
- Work closely with parents and external agencies to support students’ needs.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience as a SENCO or in a similar leadership role within education.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of SEND provision and support systems.
- Experience in delivering high-quality teaching and learning to students with additional needs.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a Leadership Team.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Commitment to inclusive education and student well-being.
Preferred
- Experience in a school setting that is part of a multi-academy trust.
- Experience with curriculum development and implementation for students with additional needs.
- Experience in leading or supporting staff professional development in SEND areas.
- Familiarity with the Teachers’ Pension Scheme or Local Government Pension Scheme.
