The Opportunity:
As the SENCO - Strategic Lead for SEND, you will be at the heart of shaping a culture where every student thrives. This is a strategic and operational leadership role focused on driving excellence in SEND provision and ensuring an inclusive learning environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop an outstanding SEND provision, ensuring it meets the needs of all students.
- Manage and support the Head of HeartSpace, providing guidance and professional development to staff.
- Deliver evidence-informed practice and ensure compliance with legislation in all SEND provision.
- Collaborate with external agencies and support the use of resources to secure inclusive education.
- Provide leadership and direction in the development of inclusive learning strategies.
- Support staff in delivering high-quality education for students with SEND.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision and make recommendations for improvement.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the school in relation to inclusion and SEND.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in leading SEND provision within a school, either as a SENDCO or Assistant.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to manage and develop a team.
- Experience in working with external agencies and providing guidance to staff.
- In-depth knowledge of legislation and policy related to SEND.
- Commitment to evidence-informed practice and continuous improvement.
Preferred
- Experience in receiving in-role training and working towards achieving the NPQ for SENDCO.
- Experience in a school with a strong values-driven culture and commitment to inclusion.
- Background in providing professional development and support to teachers and support staff.
- Experience in leading the development of inclusive learning strategies and policies.
