The Opportunity:

The SEND Support Coordinator plays a crucial role in leading and coordinating high-quality support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This position ensures that students achieve outstanding academic progress and positive personal and social outcomes, making a meaningful impact on their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage support services for students with SEND across the school.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, parents, carers, and external agencies to develop and implement individual support plans.
  • Ensure all statutory requirements and deadlines are met, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on best practices for supporting students with SEND.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of support strategies and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a consistent and holistic approach to student support.
  • Maintain open communication with parents and carers to keep them informed of student progress and needs.
  • Support students in achieving their full potential through personalized learning and pastoral care.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Grade C/4 and above in GCSE English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills with the ability to meet statutory deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with staff, parents, carers, and students.
  • Significant experience working with children and young people with a wide range of SEND, ideally in secondary or post-16 education.

Preferred

  • Experience in coordinating support services within an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of SEND frameworks and policies.
  • Experience with developing and implementing individual support plans.
  • Familiarity with educational software and record-keeping systems.
