SEND Year Team Leader - HLTA - Support students with SEND in a dynamic school environment.

The Opportunity:

As a SEND Year Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in leading and coordinating the support provided to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. This is a key position that requires strong leadership, communication, and collaboration with multiple departments to ensure the effective delivery of support services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and lead a team of Learning Support Assistants to provide in-class support for students with SEND.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Pastoral Head of Year to discuss and adapt support strategies based on evolving student needs.
  • Liaise with Heads of Curriculum and Subject departments to ensure SEND support aligns with academic and pastoral requirements.
  • Develop and implement bespoke interventions aimed at improving students’ independence and overall learning experience.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of support provision, making recommendations for improvement where necessary.
  • Support the SENCO in ensuring that all SEND-related policies and procedures are followed consistently.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive environment that supports the well-being and academic success of all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in a SEND support role, ideally within a school setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to supporting students with diverse needs and fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum planning or subject-specific support.
  • Knowledge of SEND legislation and best practices.
  • Experience in developing and delivering targeted interventions.
  • Familiarity with assessment and monitoring tools for students with special educational needs.
