The Opportunity:
As a SEND Year Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in leading and coordinating the support provided to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. This is a key position that requires strong leadership, communication, and collaboration with multiple departments to ensure the effective delivery of support services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and lead a team of Learning Support Assistants to provide in-class support for students with SEND.
- Maintain regular communication with the Pastoral Head of Year to discuss and adapt support strategies based on evolving student needs.
- Liaise with Heads of Curriculum and Subject departments to ensure SEND support aligns with academic and pastoral requirements.
- Develop and implement bespoke interventions aimed at improving students’ independence and overall learning experience.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of support provision, making recommendations for improvement where necessary.
- Support the SENCO in ensuring that all SEND-related policies and procedures are followed consistently.
- Promote a positive and inclusive environment that supports the well-being and academic success of all students.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant experience in a SEND support role, ideally within a school setting.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to supporting students with diverse needs and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum planning or subject-specific support.
- Knowledge of SEND legislation and best practices.
- Experience in developing and delivering targeted interventions.
- Familiarity with assessment and monitoring tools for students with special educational needs.
