The Opportunity:

As a SENDCO, you will lead the strategic development and day-to-day coordination of SEND provision, ensuring all students receive the support they need to succeed. This is a key role in promoting inclusion and high expectations across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on the school’s SEND policy and ensure compliance with statutory guidance.
  • Oversee the identification, assessment, and support of pupils with SEND, including managing the SEND register and exam access arrangements.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to deliver inclusive education.
  • Train and support colleagues in inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Promote a culture of high expectations where every pupil is supported to reach their potential.
  • Teach SEN lessons to students in one-to-one or small group settings.
  • Work across a broad age range (3–18) and lead a team effectively.
  • Engage with external agencies and maintain strong communication with all stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified SENDCO status or specialist SEN qualifications (SPLD, SEMH, ASD, ADHD) or willingness to complete SENDCo qualification within 3 years.
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Experience of leading a team, delivering training, and working across a broad age range (3–18).
  • Excellent communication skills with staff, pupils, parents, and outside agencies.

Preferred

  • Experience in a similar role within a school or educational setting.
  • Familiarity with the Inspired Learning Group and its values.
  • Experience in developing and implementing inclusive policies and procedures.
