Summary:

Senior Attendance Officer – Family Outreach Worker for term time only, 37 hours per week.

The Opportunity:

As a Senior Attendance Officer – Family Outreach Worker, you will play a key role in supporting student attendance and working closely with families to improve outcomes. This is a vital role in ensuring students can fully benefit from their education and reach their potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student attendance and engagement.
  • Work closely with students, parents, and carers to address attendance barriers and support improvement.
  • Monitor, record, and evaluate attendance data to identify trends and inform targeted interventions.
  • Collaborate with teachers and senior leaders to ensure attendance policies are effectively applied.
  • Provide regular reports and insights to the leadership team on attendance performance.
  • Support students through personalized outreach and engagement activities.
  • Liaise with external agencies where necessary to support student and family needs.
  • Contribute to the school’s ongoing transformation and improvement journey.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in education or social care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with students and families.
  • Knowledge of attendance policies and procedures in schools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in managing data and producing reports.

Preferred

  • Experience in working with vulnerable students or families.
  • Understanding of child development and welfare.
  • Experience with safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Familiarity with educational partnerships and multi-agency working.
