The Opportunity:
As Senior Deputy Head, you will play a central role in shaping the strategic direction and pastoral care of a dynamic school community. You will support the Head in leading the school, with a particular focus on Years 7 to 11 and the development of a new Sixth Form in 2028. This is a leadership role that demands vision, empathy, and a commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the pastoral strategy and wellbeing of students in Years 7 to 11.
- Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring the highest standards in safeguarding practice and student welfare.
- Support the Head in deputising for leadership responsibilities and provide confident leadership when required.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the school’s strategic vision, including the expansion of the Sixth Form.
- Play a key role in staff development, policy-making, and governance engagement.
- Foster a culture aligned with the school’s values of kindness, commitment, ambition, growth, and integrity.
- Engage closely with pupils, parents, and colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive school environment.
- Promote academic excellence and character development across all aspects of school life.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in senior leadership within a school setting.
- Strong understanding of adolescent development and pastoral care.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex teams and initiatives.
- Experience in safeguarding and child protection, with the ability to act as Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to the school’s values and mission.
Preferred
- Experience in leading or contributing to the development of a Sixth Form or similar provision.
- Background in strategic planning and school improvement.
- Experience with governance and external stakeholder engagement.
- Familiarity with technology integration in education.
