The Opportunity:

As a Senior Design and Technology Technician, you will provide essential support to teaching staff and contribute to the successful delivery of the Design and Technology curriculum. This role is ideal for someone passionate about design and technology, with a focus on fostering student engagement and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the technician team, including directing working arrangements and identifying training requirements.
  • Maintain a proactive and flexible approach to departmental support, ensuring smooth daily operations.
  • Ensure the efficient preparation and organisation of lesson materials as required.
  • Support teaching staff and pupils during lessons, promoting a safe and engaging learning environment.
  • Assist in the safe conduct of students and the application of Health and Safety procedures.
  • Maintain stocks of materials and equipment, ensuring resources are available for all lessons.
  • Work alongside staff in preparing materials for examination coursework and assessments.
  • Participate in performance and development reviews, identifying opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering, Design Technology or a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong commitment to supporting the Design and Technology curriculum.
  • Experience in a school or educational setting, preferably within a science or technology faculty.
  • High levels of enthusiasm, dedication, and a willingness to contribute to a collaborative team environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in managing a technician team or leading departmental projects.
  • Familiarity with Health and Safety procedures in a school setting.
  • Experience with curriculum development or supporting teaching staff in a Design and Technology context.
