The Opportunity:

As a Senior IT Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the school's IT infrastructure and services. This role offers the opportunity to lead technical projects, implement advanced automation, and ensure secure and efficient IT operations across the institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide third-line technical support for the school’s IT infrastructure
  • Act as the lead technical specialist on infrastructure and systems-related issues
  • Develop and implement operational procedures for system automation and monitoring
  • Collaborate with development colleagues to support advanced automation and service delivery
  • Lead technical delivery of new systems and oversee deployment and configuration of end-user hardware and software
  • Proactively identify and resolve IT issues to ensure system reliability and security
  • Participate in major infrastructure projects including cloud migrations, system upgrades, and security enhancements
  • Ensure compliance with best practices in IT operations and security

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong technical expertise in PowerShell automation, Microsoft cloud services, Windows operating systems and servers
  • Proficiency in Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, and Layer 2/3 networking
  • Experience with firewalls, wireless infrastructure, Veeam, and virtualisation platforms such as Hyper-V
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Intune, RMM patch management, and security posture monitoring
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical challenges and deliver reliable IT services

Preferred

  • Experience with cloud technologies, cybersecurity, and device management
  • Proactive approach to technical learning and a commitment to continuous professional development
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and refine complex requirements
  • Experience working in a collaborative, service-focused environment
