The Opportunity:
As a Senior School Librarian, you will shape the academic library as a central hub for learning, research, and student development. This role is ideal for someone passionate about literacy, education, and fostering a love of reading in students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement library programs that support the academic curriculum and IB learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate research, information literacy, and inquiry-based learning into teaching practices.
- Provide academic support for students, particularly in the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge (TOK) components of the IB Diploma.
- Manage and maintain a dynamic, student-centered library environment aligned with IB library best practices.
- Deliver literacy and academic English lessons to Key Stage 3 students as part of the teaching allocation.
- Work closely with the wider Libraries Team to ensure consistency and collaboration across all school levels.
- Promote reading and literary engagement through library events, book clubs, and student-led initiatives.
- Ensure the library remains a welcoming and inclusive space for all members of the school community.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Proven experience in a school library or academic support role.
- Strong knowledge of information literacy and research skills in an educational context.
- Experience in curriculum development and collaboration with teaching staff.
- Ability to deliver high-quality lessons in Literacy and Academic English.
Preferred
- Experience working within the IB or IGCSE framework.
- Familiarity with digital library systems and resources.
- Leadership experience within a school library or academic team.
- Passion for promoting reading and literature among students.
