Senior School Nurse needed for a UK boarding school. Lead healthcare and welfare initiatives.

The Opportunity:

As a Senior School Nurse, you will provide strategic leadership and operational management of the medical centre, ensuring the highest standards of healthcare and pupil welfare. This role plays a pivotal part in safeguarding and wellbeing across the school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the nursing and administrative team to ensure efficient and effective medical services.
  • Oversee clinical governance, staffing, training, and budget management.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, child protection, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Collaborate with senior pastoral colleagues, GPs, counsellors, and external providers to support student wellbeing.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives for medical services.
  • Provide clinical leadership and support during emergencies and routine healthcare provision.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure confidentiality in line with legal and ethical standards.
  • Promote health education and preventative care across the school community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Registered nurse with a minimum of five years’ post-registration experience.
  • Demonstrable leadership and management experience.
  • Experience in school nursing or medical centre management.
  • Strong decision-making and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work within safeguarding and child protection frameworks.

Preferred

  • Experience in independent education or boarding school environments.
  • Familiarity with UK healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in managing budgets and teams.
