The Opportunity:

As a Senior Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the science department and ensuring the delivery of safe, engaging, and high-quality practical lessons. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and manage the technical aspects of science education in a forward-thinking school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage technical support across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Prepare and set up practical experiments and demonstrations for teaching staff.
  • Maintain, manage, and ensure the proper use of laboratory equipment, stock, and resources.
  • Uphold and enforce health and safety standards in the science laboratories.
  • Support teaching staff in delivering engaging and safe science lessons.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to the Science Technician team.
  • Ensure all laboratory resources are well-stocked and in good working order.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to enhance the science curriculum through practical learning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience working in a school science lab or a similar laboratory environment.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Good understanding of health and safety procedures in a laboratory setting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in managing and supervising junior technicians.

Preferred

  • Experience with preparing and delivering practical science lessons.
  • Knowledge of modern science teaching techniques and equipment.
  • Experience with laboratory management systems or inventory software.
  • A relevant qualification or training in science or laboratory management.
