The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Social Sciences Teacher to join our vibrant Humanities faculty. This is a temporary role to cover maternity leave and would suit both newly qualified and experienced teachers. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to a supportive and forward-thinking learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning in Social Sciences, including Sociology and Criminology at KS4 and KS5.
  • Support students in developing critical thinking, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of social issues.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Humanities department to enhance curriculum delivery and student outcomes.
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of cross-curricular and whole-school initiatives.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide constructive feedback to support learning.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
  • Support the school’s mission to improve student life chances and foster a culture of respect and personal responsibility.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in Social Sciences or a related subject.
  • Experience in teaching Sociology and/or Criminology at KS4 and KS5.
  • Strong knowledge of the Social Sciences curriculum and assessment requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to student welfare and the promotion of a positive learning environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching a range of Humanities subjects, including Geography, History, RE, PSHE, Psychology, Law, and Politics.
  • Willingness to teach across the Humanities department and take on additional responsibilities.
  • Experience working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development of staff and students through mentoring and professional development.
