The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and qualified Social Sciences Teacher to join a forward-thinking school on a maternity cover basis. The role offers the chance to teach Citizenship, Sociology, Criminology, Psychology, SPHERE, and Humanities across the 11-18 age range. This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced and newly qualified teachers to make an impact in a school with a growing reputation and excellent facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach a range of Social Sciences subjects including Citizenship, Sociology, Criminology, Psychology, SPHERE, and Humanities across the 11-18 age range.
  • Deliver high-quality lessons that engage and inspire students, promoting a love of learning.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the school’s curriculum and teaching strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Humanities Department to support student progress and achievement.
  • Participate in pastoral care and student support initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records and assessments of student performance.
  • Support extracurricular activities and school events as required.
  • Engage with parents and the wider school community to promote student success and wellbeing.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in Social Sciences or related subjects.
  • Ability to teach Citizenship, Sociology, Criminology, Psychology, SPHERE, and/or Humanities.
  • Experience teaching across the 11-18 age range.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience with SPHERE and Humanities curriculum.
  • Experience in teaching at both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Experience with Citizenship and/or Sociology.
  • Experience in a school undergoing expansion or development.
  • Experience in a school with a strong pastoral system and inclusive culture.
