Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons in Sociology to achieve excellent student outcomes.
  • Set and mark work in accordance with the school's assessment policy and record student progress.
  • Develop strong rapport with students and maintain a positive, student-centered learning environment.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Department and other staff to support the teaching and learning process.
  • Teach in other departments where required and contribute to departmental administration.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and students, including attendance at consultation and open evenings.
  • Stay up to date with current developments in Sociology and implement innovative teaching methods.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A relevant degree and teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards obtaining a teaching qualification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage a classroom effectively and maintain high standards of student behavior and achievement.
  • Commitment to the Catholic ethos and values of the school.
  • Understanding of equality, diversity, and safeguarding practices.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching Sociology at A-Level or equivalent.
  • Experience with the AQA specification.
  • Familiarity with the topics covered in Y12 and Y13 Sociology courses.
  • Experience in curriculum development and innovative teaching practices.
