Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons in Sociology to achieve excellent student outcomes.
- Set and mark work in accordance with the school's assessment policy and record student progress.
- Develop strong rapport with students and maintain a positive, student-centered learning environment.
- Collaborate with the Head of Department and other staff to support the teaching and learning process.
- Teach in other departments where required and contribute to departmental administration.
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and students, including attendance at consultation and open evenings.
- Stay up to date with current developments in Sociology and implement innovative teaching methods.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A relevant degree and teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards obtaining a teaching qualification.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage a classroom effectively and maintain high standards of student behavior and achievement.
- Commitment to the Catholic ethos and values of the school.
- Understanding of equality, diversity, and safeguarding practices.
Preferred
- Experience in teaching Sociology at A-Level or equivalent.
- Experience with the AQA specification.
- Familiarity with the topics covered in Y12 and Y13 Sociology courses.
- Experience in curriculum development and innovative teaching practices.
