Summary:

Sous Chef needed to support the Head Chef and maintain high food quality standards at a school.

The Opportunity:

As a Sous Chef, you will play a key role in supporting the Head Chef and ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen. This is an opportunity to contribute to a school renowned for its commitment to quality and excellence in all aspects of student life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist and deputise for the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
  • Ensure all food is prepared and presented to the high standards expected by a school.
  • Maintain strict adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • Monitor stock levels and manage inventory to reduce waste and control costs.
  • Support the development and implementation of menus that meet the nutritional and dietary needs of students.
  • Participate in training and development initiatives to enhance culinary skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure the kitchen is kept clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A Level 2 Award in Food Safety or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience in a similar role within a kitchen environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a school or catering environment.
  • Knowledge of nutritional requirements and special diets.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience within a kitchen team.
