The Opportunity:
A school is seeking a Spanish Teacher - Fixed Term Contract to join its World Languages department. This role involves teaching Spanish Literature and Language Acquisition within the IB MYP and IB Diploma programmes. The successful candidate will support students in Grades 6 to 11 (Years 7 to 12) and contribute to a dynamic and well-established academic programme.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach and promote the Spanish language and culture using student-centered strategies and technology.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and styles.
- Collaborate with faculty to develop interdisciplinary links with other subject areas.
- Embed IB 'Approaches to Learning' in the World Languages curriculum.
- Address diversity, multiple perspectives, and support students learning in a language other than their mother tongue.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching and pedagogical practices.
- Create a stimulating and respectful learning environment that engages students in meaningful reflection.
- Support the planning and management of displays, Open Day presentations, and school-related activities.
- Promote and model the attributes of the IB Learner Profile.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in teaching Spanish Literature and Language Acquisition.
- Experience in delivering the IB MYP and IB Diploma curricula.
- Strong knowledge of Spanish language, literature, and culture.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse student needs.
Preferred
- Experience with teaching girls in a Catholic educational setting.
- Familiarity with the RSHM educational philosophy.
- Experience in developing and leading extra-curricular activities in World Languages.
- Proficiency in using technology in language teaching.
