The Opportunity:
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with autism and challenging behaviour. Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with autism and challenging behaviour in a structured and nurturing environment.
- Assist with the delivery of individual and group learning activities tailored to students' specific needs.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and other support staff to ensure consistent and effective support for students.
- Monitor and report on student progress and behaviour, maintaining accurate records as required.
- Promote positive behaviour and social skills through consistent and supportive interactions.
- Adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for all students.
- Provide one-to-one support where necessary to help students reach their academic and personal goals.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant experience as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
- A commitment to supporting students with autism, SEMH, and other complex needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
- Experience in managing challenging behaviour in a school setting.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Preferred
- Experience working with children with autism and social communication difficulties.
- Knowledge of autism best practices and educational support strategies.
- Previous experience within a special needs school or similar educational setting.
- Familiarity with curriculum planning and support for students with diverse learning needs.
