The Opportunity:

As a Specialist Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students' learning and behaviour management within a dynamic and supportive environment. Your work will directly contribute to the academic and personal development of students requiring specialist care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in developing independent learning skills in line with the national curriculum.
  • Prepare and organise resources and classroom environments for planned activities.
  • Assist with behaviour management strategies to ensure a positive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to deliver effective lessons.
  • Provide individualised support to students based on their specific needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communication with staff.
  • Assist with administrative tasks as required.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive environment for all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Ability to meet the key accountabilities set out in the job description.
  • Good organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Experience or a keen interest in the subject matter being taught.
  • Proficiency in using ICT effectively.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a similar support role, especially within special education.
  • Experience working with students with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of special educational needs and disability (SEND) support strategies.
  • Experience in behaviour management techniques.
