The Opportunity:
As a Specialist Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students' learning and behaviour management within a dynamic and supportive environment. Your work will directly contribute to the academic and personal development of students requiring specialist care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students in developing independent learning skills in line with the national curriculum.
- Prepare and organise resources and classroom environments for planned activities.
- Assist with behaviour management strategies to ensure a positive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to deliver effective lessons.
- Provide individualised support to students based on their specific needs.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communication with staff.
- Assist with administrative tasks as required.
- Promote a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Ability to meet the key accountabilities set out in the job description.
- Good organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
- Experience or a keen interest in the subject matter being taught.
- Proficiency in using ICT effectively.
Preferred
- Previous experience in a similar support role, especially within special education.
- Experience working with students with complex needs.
- Knowledge of special educational needs and disability (SEND) support strategies.
- Experience in behaviour management techniques.
