Speech and Language Therapist needed at a specialist college. Support students with autism and Asperger Syndrome.

The Opportunity:

A Speech and Language Therapist is needed to support students with autism and Asperger Syndrome. This role involves working closely with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver tailored therapy and support. The successful candidate will make a meaningful impact on students' communication and life skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individual and group speech and language therapy sessions
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and other therapists to develop and implement student care plans
  • Monitor and assess student progress and adjust therapy strategies accordingly
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on communication and support strategies
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and interventions
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and student reviews
  • Ensure all therapeutic activities are carried out in a safe and supportive environment
  • Support students in developing strategies to manage their condition in everyday life

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with a BSc or equivalent qualification
  • Relevant experience working with students with autism and Asperger Syndrome
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Preferred

  • Experience in a special needs or educational setting
  • Knowledge of teaching and supporting students with complex needs
  • Experience with behaviour management and support strategies
  • Flexibility to work in a dynamic and evolving environment
