The Opportunity:
A Speech and Language Therapist is needed to support students with autism and Asperger Syndrome. This role involves working closely with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver tailored therapy and support. The successful candidate will make a meaningful impact on students' communication and life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual and group speech and language therapy sessions
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and other therapists to develop and implement student care plans
- Monitor and assess student progress and adjust therapy strategies accordingly
- Provide guidance and training to staff on communication and support strategies
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and interventions
- Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and student reviews
- Ensure all therapeutic activities are carried out in a safe and supportive environment
- Support students in developing strategies to manage their condition in everyday life
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with a BSc or equivalent qualification
- Relevant experience working with students with autism and Asperger Syndrome
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Preferred
- Experience in a special needs or educational setting
- Knowledge of teaching and supporting students with complex needs
- Experience with behaviour management and support strategies
