The Opportunity:
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering specialist assessment and intervention to pupils with diverse communication needs. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to foster independence and support positive outcomes for students in an education setting. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver bespoke speech and language therapy assessment and intervention to pupils with complex communication needs.
- Work collaboratively with the education team to support pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergence, or SEMH needs.
- Maintain a speech and language therapy caseload with the support of a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
- Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
- Follow the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working and professional standards.
- Communicate effectively with families, carers, and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Develop and implement support plans based on individual needs profiles.
- Stay up to date with legislation and professional practice in speech and language therapy.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
- HCPC registered.
- 1–2 years’ experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT in a similar setting.
- Experience working with individuals with complex and diverse communication profiles.
- Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
- Experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings.
- Experience of communicating with families, carers, and professionals.
- Good relationship building, analytical, and judgmental skills.
- Strong communication (oral and written) and organisational skills.
- Competence in core areas of speech and language therapy practice.
- Knowledge of assessment tools, types of intervention, and support planning.
- Understanding of legislation and its implications for clinical practice.
Preferred
- Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication.
- Knowledge of the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
- Full driving license and access to a car.
