The Opportunity:

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering specialist assessment and intervention to pupils with diverse communication needs. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to foster independence and support positive outcomes for students in an education setting. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver bespoke speech and language therapy assessment and intervention to pupils with complex communication needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the education team to support pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergence, or SEMH needs.
  • Maintain a speech and language therapy caseload with the support of a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
  • Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
  • Follow the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working and professional standards.
  • Communicate effectively with families, carers, and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Develop and implement support plans based on individual needs profiles.
  • Stay up to date with legislation and professional practice in speech and language therapy.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registered.
  • 1–2 years’ experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT in a similar setting.
  • Experience working with individuals with complex and diverse communication profiles.
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings.
  • Experience of communicating with families, carers, and professionals.
  • Good relationship building, analytical, and judgmental skills.
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and organisational skills.
  • Competence in core areas of speech and language therapy practice.
  • Knowledge of assessment tools, types of intervention, and support planning.
  • Understanding of legislation and its implications for clinical practice.

Preferred

  • Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication.
  • Knowledge of the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
  • Full driving license and access to a car.
