The Opportunity:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our team and provide essential support to students with complex needs. This role is pivotal in enhancing students’ communication and language development through individualised therapy programs. The successful candidate will work closely with educators, therapists, and families to ensure the best outcomes for our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualised therapy programs tailored to students’ specific needs.
  • Collaborate with educators, therapists, and external agencies to support students’ learning and development.
  • Conduct assessments and provide targeted interventions to improve communication and language skills.
  • Work closely with families to ensure consistent support and progress across all settings.
  • Maintain detailed records and reports on student progress and therapy outcomes.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the development of the therapy provision.
  • Provide guidance and training to support staff on communication strategies and intervention techniques.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all students during therapy sessions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with relevant professional registration.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a specialist school or college for young adults with complex needs, including PMLD, SLD, and autism.
  • Strong knowledge of communication and language development in students with learning difficulties.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and external agencies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with individualised education plans and multi-sensory teaching approaches.
  • Knowledge of sensory integration and motor development.
  • Experience working in a specialist college or school with a focus on supported living and vocational training.
  • Familiarity with the inner London pay scale and related employment standards.
