The Opportunity:

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering tailored support to pupils with complex communication needs. This is an opportunity to work within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team and make a meaningful impact on student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver bespoke speech and language therapy assessments and interventions to pupils with diverse needs.
  • Work collaboratively with education and clinical teams to support student progress and independence.
  • Maintain a caseload of pupils, with regular supervision and support from the clinical team.
  • Contribute to training and professional development for staff and colleagues.
  • Develop and implement individual support plans based on assessed needs and communication profiles.
  • Communicate effectively with families, carers, and other professionals involved in student care.
  • Stay up to date with legislation, RCSLT standards, and best practices in speech and language therapy.
  • Participate in research projects, special interest groups, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registered and a fully registered member of the RCSLT.
  • 1-2 years of experience working in a similar setting.
  • Experience working with individuals with complex communication profiles.
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams across a range of settings.
  • Experience communicating with families and carers.
  • Strong relationship-building, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organisational abilities.
  • Competence in core areas of SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
  • Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, intervention types, and support plan formulation.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice.
  • Willingness to attend training and pursue further qualifications.
  • Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.

Preferred

  • Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may affect communication.
  • Awareness of the relationship between arousal levels and communication.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary up to £53,200 FTE.
