The Opportunity:
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will deliver specialist assessment and intervention to pupils with a range of communication needs. This role offers the chance to work in a multidisciplinary team, contribute to research, and develop your skills in a supportive and flexible environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention tailored to individual pupil needs.
- Work collaboratively with the education team and other professionals to support pupils with developmental trauma, neurodiversity, or SEMH needs.
- Maintain a caseload of pupils, with support from a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
- Contribute to staff training and consultation as required, sharing expertise and best practices.
- Develop and implement support plans based on individual communication profiles and needs.
- Stay up to date with current Speech and Language Therapy standards and practice.
- Communicate effectively with families, carers, and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ensure all interventions are in line with professional standards and legislation.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Degree or Masters in Speech and Language Therapy.
- HCPC registered.
- Experience working with individuals with complex communication profiles.
- Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
- Experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings.
- Experience of communicating with families and carers.
- Good relationship building, analytical, and judgmental skills.
- Strong communication skills (oral and written).
- Time management and organisational skills.
- Competent in core areas of Speech and Language Therapy practice.
- Knowledge of RCSLT Communication Standards and assessment tools.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
- Understanding of legislation related to clinical practice and professional management.
Preferred
- Understanding of sensory and motor differences impacting communication.
- Awareness of the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
