Summary:

Speech and Language Therapist role with a focus on education and multidisciplinary teamwork.

The Opportunity:

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering specialist assessment and intervention within an education setting. You will work collaboratively with the education team to support pupils with a range of needs, including developmental trauma, neurodiversity, and SEMH challenges. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver bespoke speech and language therapy assessment and intervention to pupils with complex needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the education team and other professionals to support pupils’ communication and learning outcomes.
  • Maintain a speech and language therapy caseload, with support from a designated clinical supervisor.
  • Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
  • Follow the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working to ensure consistent, high-quality practice.
  • Develop and implement individual support plans based on pupils’ needs profiles.
  • Communicate effectively with families, carers, and other professionals.
  • Stay up to date with legislation and professional standards in speech and language therapy.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registered.
  • Experience working with individuals with complex and diverse communication profiles.
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings.
  • Experience communicating with families and carers.
  • Good relationship building, analytical, and judgmental skills.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Competent in core areas of SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
  • Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools and intervention methods.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice.

Preferred

  • Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication.
  • Evidence of understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
