The Opportunity:
As a Speech and Language Therapist (Secondary), you will play a vital role in helping students with speech, language, and communication difficulties to thrive. You will work within a transdisciplinary model, integrating therapy with education and collaborating closely with teaching and support staff. Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with speech, language, and communication difficulties through individual and group therapy sessions.
- Collaborate with teaching and support staff, as well as other therapists, to integrate therapy goals into the educational setting.
- Conduct clinical assessments, develop treatment plans, and implement therapy programmes tailored to student needs.
- Work closely with parents and carers to ensure consistent support and progress for students.
- Promote positive behaviour and create a nurturing environment for students.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of school-wide communication strategies.
- Stay up to date with best practices in speech and language therapy and apply them in the classroom.
- Provide regular updates and reports on student progress to relevant staff and stakeholders.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with experience working with children, ideally in a secondary setting.
- Knowledge of clinical assessment, treatment planning, and implementation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in promoting positive behaviour and creating a supportive learning environment.
Preferred
- Experience in a school setting, particularly with students with speech and language difficulties.
- Familiarity with transdisciplinary working models.
- Experience with standardised assessments and clinical observation techniques.
- Previous experience with behaviour support management or similar training.
