The Opportunity:

As a Speech and Language Therapist (Secondary), you will play a vital role in helping students with speech, language, and communication difficulties to thrive. You will work within a transdisciplinary model, integrating therapy with education and collaborating closely with teaching and support staff. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' lives while being part of a supportive and dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with speech, language, and communication difficulties through individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Collaborate with teaching and support staff, as well as other therapists, to integrate therapy goals into the educational setting.
  • Conduct clinical assessments, develop treatment plans, and implement therapy programmes tailored to student needs.
  • Work closely with parents and carers to ensure consistent support and progress for students.
  • Promote positive behaviour and create a nurturing environment for students.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of school-wide communication strategies.
  • Stay up to date with best practices in speech and language therapy and apply them in the classroom.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on student progress to relevant staff and stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with experience working with children, ideally in a secondary setting.
  • Knowledge of clinical assessment, treatment planning, and implementation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in promoting positive behaviour and creating a supportive learning environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school setting, particularly with students with speech and language difficulties.
  • Familiarity with transdisciplinary working models.
  • Experience with standardised assessments and clinical observation techniques.
  • Previous experience with behaviour support management or similar training.
