The Opportunity:

As a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the work of qualified clinicians and delivering tailored interventions to meet the specific needs of pupils. This is a dynamic, cross-disciplinary role that offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of evidence-based assessments and interventions under the supervision of qualified clinicians.
  • Assist in the creation of communication and sensory profiles and contribute to placement plans.
  • Deliver a range of therapeutic interventions tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Conduct observations and participate in multi-agency meetings to support pupil development.
  • Co-facilitate staff training and contribute to ongoing service development.
  • Engage in continual professional development through internal forums and external training opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with the education team and families to support pupils in meaningful activities and interactions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English.
  • Undergraduate degree (preferred).
  • Experience working as a therapy assistant or in a similar role.
  • Experience working within an educational setting.
  • Strong team-working skills.
  • Knowledge of working with children and young people with special educational needs.
  • Ability to deliver 1:1 and group sessions under supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex information to pupils, families, and professionals.

Preferred

  • Experience in speech and language therapy or related clinical support roles.
  • Familiarity with therapeutic interventions for children with complex needs.
  • Experience in multi-agency collaboration and co-facilitating training.
