The Opportunity:
As a Sports Facilities Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining and managing the school's extensive sports facilities. This includes lifeguarding, equipment management, and ensuring a safe environment for all users. You will be the first point of contact for visitors and will be responsible for the smooth operation of multiple sites, from the swimming pool to all-weather pitches.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of sports facilities, including lifeguarding and user supervision.
- Open and close sites, including the swimming pool, gymnasium, and all-weather pitches.
- Set up and dismantle sports equipment, such as lane ropes, trampolines, and hockey goals.
- Maintain cleanliness, report maintenance issues, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Oversee user behavior and enforce facility rules to prevent misuse and damage.
- Support the implementation of new services and provide feedback for improvements.
- Assist with the Primary School Swimming Programme, including teaching and covering for absent staff.
- Attend training sessions and complete safeguarding and health and safety procedures as required.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ).
- Lifeguard experience.
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures in sports and leisure environments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of people.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and work independently with initiative.
- A team player attitude and a positive, flexible approach to work.
Preferred
- First Aid qualification.
- Recognised fitness or sports management qualification.
- Pool Plant qualification.
- Swimming England Qualifications (SEQ) - Level 1 or Level 2.
- Experience in a leisure environment at a duty manager level.
