The Opportunity:

As a Stage Manager and Performing Arts Technician, you will be responsible for the technical execution of school theatre productions, ensuring that each performance runs smoothly and safely. This role is ideal for someone passionate about the performing arts and dedicated to supporting student development through high-quality technical support and creative opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate all technical aspects of school theatre productions, including lighting, sound, and rigging.
  • Oversee set building, maintenance, and storage, ensuring safety and efficiency.
  • Support the scheduling of performances, rehearsals, and events across the school calendar.
  • Work closely with Music, Drama, and Dance staff to deliver a cohesive and impactful performing arts programme.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during all school events and productions.
  • Assist in the organisation and execution of student clubs, community events, and House activities.
  • Provide technical support for a wide range of productions, from plays and musicals to concerts and special events.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Performing Arts to meet the school’s artistic and operational goals.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in stage management and theatre technical operations.
  • Strong knowledge of lighting, sound, and rigging systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards in a school environment.
  • Experience working within an educational setting, preferably in a school theatre or performing arts department.

Preferred

  • Experience in managing large-scale productions or events.
  • Knowledge of set building and stage design.
  • Familiarity with digital audio and lighting control systems.
  • Experience working with students and supporting their creative development.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
