Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging STEM lessons aligned with the National Curriculum and school standards.
  • Lead the development and implementation of an integrated STEM curriculum that promotes creativity and interdisciplinary learning.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to teaching staff, fostering professional growth and innovative teaching practices.
  • Use data effectively to monitor student progress and implement strategies to improve academic outcomes.
  • Promote scientific inquiry, technological innovation, and mathematical problem-solving through practical investigations and project-based learning.
  • Collaborate with school leadership and other departments to contribute to whole-school initiatives and STEM-related events.
  • Manage department resources, including technology, laboratory equipment, and learning materials efficiently.
  • Organize and support extracurricular activities such as STEM clubs and coding workshops.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports student well-being and collaborative learning.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and department activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
  • Proven leadership experience in STEM education or related educational settings.
  • Significant experience teaching STEM subjects to lower secondary or Key Stage 3 students.
  • Demonstrated success in interdisciplinary curriculum leadership and staff development.
  • Experience in data-driven instruction and student performance management.
  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for STEM education and innovation.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in educational technology, laboratory safety, and maker space management.

Preferred

  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Familiarity with child safeguarding policies and practices.
  • Experience in collaborative teaching and curriculum design.
