Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging STEM lessons aligned with the National Curriculum and school standards.
- Lead the development and implementation of an integrated STEM curriculum that promotes creativity and interdisciplinary learning.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to teaching staff, fostering professional growth and innovative teaching practices.
- Use data effectively to monitor student progress and implement strategies to improve academic outcomes.
- Promote scientific inquiry, technological innovation, and mathematical problem-solving through practical investigations and project-based learning.
- Collaborate with school leadership and other departments to contribute to whole-school initiatives and STEM-related events.
- Manage department resources, including technology, laboratory equipment, and learning materials efficiently.
- Organize and support extracurricular activities such as STEM clubs and coding workshops.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports student well-being and collaborative learning.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and department activities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
- Proven leadership experience in STEM education or related educational settings.
- Significant experience teaching STEM subjects to lower secondary or Key Stage 3 students.
- Demonstrated success in interdisciplinary curriculum leadership and staff development.
- Experience in data-driven instruction and student performance management.
- Strong subject knowledge and passion for STEM education and innovation.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in educational technology, laboratory safety, and maker space management.
Preferred
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
- Familiarity with child safeguarding policies and practices.
- Experience in collaborative teaching and curriculum design.
