The Opportunity:

As the Strategic Lead of Literacy, you will play a pivotal role in driving literacy across the school. This is a key leadership position that will shape the future of literacy provision at KS3 and KS4, with a focus on achieving outstanding GCSE outcomes. The successful candidate will be a passionate and experienced educator, committed to raising standards and supporting student progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a strategic approach to literacy across the school, ensuring consistent and high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching to students across the ability range at KS3 and KS4.
  • Monitor and improve GCSE outcomes, ensuring that students achieve above-average results.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to implement evidence-based literacy strategies and interventions.
  • Support and mentor other staff in the development of literacy skills and pedagogy.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to ensure a whole-school approach to literacy.
  • Evaluate and refine literacy programs based on student performance and feedback.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in literacy leadership.
  • Proven track record of delivering successful GCSE outcomes.
  • Experience teaching across the ability range at KS3 and KS4.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement literacy strategies at a senior level.

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership or senior leadership role within a school.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment.
  • Familiarity with literacy initiatives and interventions.
  • Experience in driving school improvement and raising standards.
