The Opportunity:
As a Student Progress Adviser, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic progress, welfare, and future pathways of students. You will be responsible for guiding students through their journey at the school, providing pastoral care, and working closely with tutors and external agencies to ensure every student reaches their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and support the academic progress and discipline of a designated group of students.
- Provide tailored advice and guidance to students and their families throughout their time at the school.
- Deliver weekly tutor sessions to a group of students, fostering engagement and academic development.
- Take the lead on key aspects of pastoral care and act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Support and monitor the performance of tutors and other staff within the Student Progress Team.
- Liaise with external agencies and internal departments to ensure a comprehensive support system for students.
- Assist with post-college planning, including higher education and career pathways.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of student support strategies.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in student support, education, or youth work.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Empathy and a commitment to the needs of 16-18 year olds.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across different departments.
- Experience in safeguarding and pastoral care, with the ability to take on a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead role.
Preferred
- Experience in teaching or careers advice.
- Background in working with students in a sixth form or college setting.
- Experience with student progression planning and higher education pathways.
- Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Experience in delivering tutor sessions or leading pastoral initiatives.
