The Opportunity:
As a Student Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in helping children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. You will support them in learning, developing their abilities, and building their self-esteem, making a real difference in their lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students in the classroom with individual learning needs
- Assist in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Work closely with teachers and therapists to deliver tailored support
- Monitor and record student progress and development
- Help students develop social and emotional skills
- Provide one-to-one and small group support where needed
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage student engagement
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with children and young people with special educational needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative
- Commitment to supporting student development and well-being
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment
Preferred
- Previous experience in an educational setting
- Experience with Autistic Spectrum Disorder or Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
- Experience with teaching or supporting learning
- Knowledge of inclusive education practices
