The Opportunity:

As a Student Support Officer, you will play a key role in helping students reach their full potential by providing individual and group support to overcome barriers to learning. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students individually or in small groups to overcome barriers to learning.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to ensure consistent support for students.
  • Develop and implement strategies to help students achieve their academic and personal goals.
  • Monitor and track student progress and provide regular updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and pastoral care to students, promoting their overall wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with other support staff to create a cohesive support network for students.
  • Attend training and development sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives and events that support student success.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with young people, ideally between the ages of 11–18.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Commitment to supporting student achievement and wellbeing.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work within a dynamic and evolving environment.

Preferred

  • Prior experience in a student support or pastoral role.
  • Experience with behaviour management strategies.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection.
  • Experience working within a school or educational setting.
  • Familiarity with evidence-informed teaching and learning practices.
