The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Subject Leader of Music to join a thriving and high-performing department. This role offers the chance to drive academic and curriculum development, while contributing to a culture of excellence and student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the academic curriculum and teaching strategies in music.
  • Work collaboratively with the Subject Leader of Music (Extra-Curricular) to enhance student outcomes and opportunities.
  • Support the continued growth and success of the music department across two schools.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences that inspire and challenge students.
  • Manage and develop a team of dedicated music teachers and peripatetic staff.
  • Ensure the effective use of resources, including practice rooms, recording studios, and technology.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and evidence-informed teaching practices.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and the wider community through performance and outreach activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading a music department and delivering high-quality teaching.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with a track record of improving student outcomes.
  • In-depth knowledge of effective pedagogy and curriculum development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the school’s values and mission of excellence and student support.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department across multiple schools or settings.
  • Background in performing arts or music education.
  • Familiarity with music technology and software such as Logic Pro X.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment strategies.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
